ESPN's Brian Bennett Ranks The Big East Schedules for 2009 and Syracuse Is #1

I found this nugget of news courtesy of Brian Bennett who covers the Big East for ESPN, which you can read in further details here http://myespn.go.com/blogs/bigeast/0-5-37/Ranking-the-Big-East-nonconference-schedules.html that says that he believes Syracuse has the top non-conference schedule in all of the Big East. His statement is as follows:

"1. Syracuse: The Orange get the top spot by virtue of their opening three games: Minnesota, Penn State and Northwestern. All three went to bowl games last year and should at least contend for Top 25 status this season. Another nonconference opponent, Akron, won in the Carrier Dome a year ago."

Wow, scheduling against the Big Ten and losing to Akron finally pays off for something anyway. Keep in mind, as he explains in the article, most of this is based on what the opponents did last year and every year is different. I will however take any preseason #1's that come our way and celebrate them all day long, especially when it's not ranking the worst of something.
