Penguins Sign Another For Three Years, Important Piece As Well

Those of you hoping to see a big free agent signing, sorry but it is great news if your a Pittsburgh Penguins fan and have not heard this yet. Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero announced earlier today that the team has signed Head Coach Michel Therrien to a new 3 year deal. No further details were announced about the deal but as Shero stated, they still had one more year left with the current contract but as a reward for a job well done, they wanted to give him a salary increase starting with the upcoming season. In the last two seasons as coach, the Pittsburgh Penguins have 94 wins, 51 losses and 19 draws. Coach Therrien did not say much but I love this quote as someone who has seen the passion Pittsburgh fans have for this team, he stated, "I’m excited to have a new three-year contract with the Penguins and am looking forward to continued success here in Pittsburgh,” Therrien said. “It is a great hockey city with an outstanding fan base. All of our players comment on how much they love playing in Pittsburgh, and I can tell you that our coaches love coaching in Pittsburgh." Is that a homer comment? Sure but who cares, the guy is happy and just got a pay raise so can you really blame him? Congradulations to Coach Therrien on the extension and let's hope they can put together the same type of success they had last year, only this time maybe win the Cup.
